The RIBA Norman Foster Travelling Scholarship has been offered since 2007 following a generous donation from Lord Foster in 2006 to create a travelling scholarship to promote future talent of the architectural profession.
The scholarship funds international research on a topic and at locations of the student’s choosing. The topic of the research should relate to survival of our cities and towns and fall under one of the following themes:
♦ learning from the past to inform the future
♦ the future of society
♦ density of settlements
♦ sustainability
♦ use of resources
♦ quality of urban life
♦ transport
In 2011, one travelling scholarship of £6,000 will be awarded to one student chosen from over 100 schools of architecture worldwide with RIBA-validated courses.
Deadline for submitting applications is: 1 March 2011.
